
Reminding those who drive on to the Tecumseh High School campus today that we will have extra traffic due to the Tecumseh Invitational Track Meet. Watch out for extra buses and cars and be extremely aware of the large numbers of student athletes who will be present in the parking lots near the track.

Important update -- Pottawatomie County law enforcement authorities have informed us that the two COJC juvenile escapees have been apprehended without incident. We will immediately return to our normal teaching procedures across the district. Our thanks to local law officials for their quick work.

Very important notice -- Tecumseh Public Schools has been notified by the Tecumseh Police Department of a potential escape by two juveniles from Central Oklahoma Juvenile Assessment Center. All school sites have been moved to a green lockdown and we will continue to monitor the situation. We will keep you advised of the situation as it unfolds.

Tecumseh's FFA chapter is selling beautiful bedding plants right now at the campus greenhouse. They are open until they sell out which is usually pretty quick. Come on down, take a look and buy some flowers!


Don't forget about The Tecumseh High School Art Showcase this evening from 5-8 pm in the THS Alumni Center. Everyone is invited to view projects in paint, sketch, pottery, digital art and more. Admission is free. Masks and social distancing will be required.

It is springtime -- so Tecumseh's FFA chapter will host part one of its annual plant sale on Friday, April 16. A wide selection of bedding plants will be available inside the THS campus greenhouse at 4pm on a first come, first serve basis. Doors will close when they sell out. Second sale day is May 7.

In a special board meeting this evening, Assistant Superintendent Robert Kinsey was unanimously selected by the board of education to serve as the next superintendent for Tecumseh Public Schools. This leadership change will take effect July 1, 2021.

Rainy weather is causing some problems for spring sports this afternoon. The Tecumseh Middle School baseball tourney is canceled and varsity baseball will play one game with Pauls Valley at 2pm in the Sulphur/Davis tournament. All softball games are canceled for today.

Reminder --Tecumseh Public Schools will be on distance learning tomorrow, March 26. School buildings will be closed to students. Student attendance will be counted for this day away from school and login on the Canvas learning platform is required for assignments and meetings with teachers. Attention parents of Tecumseh Middle School eighth grade students -- If your child is planning to attend Tecumseh High School next year and you have not already done so, please get them pre-enrolled tomorrow night at the high school. We still have a few open appointment times. Please call the high school office to schedule (405) 598-2113.

Parent-teacher conferences will continue tomorrow evening for students in grades Pre K-eighth grade. If you wish to speak to your child's teacher you can do that by phone, email, ZOOM or face to face. However, you will need an appointment so call the school site offices to schedule. Pre enrollment for high school students is also taking place on Thursday, March 11 from 4:30-8:30. Appointments are required.

Vacation reminder - Classes will be dismissed on Friday, March 12 and continue to be in recess March 15-19 for Spring Break. This is Reading Awareness Month, encourage your children to check out a great book or two from their school library to enjoy during the time away. Have a safe and fun holiday.

Tecumseh students continue to shine in extracurricular activities in the most challenging year of school. Congratulations to our middle school academic bowl team who have secured a place in the state tournament. In addition, our THS concert band will compete in state contest after receiving the highest marks possible in music sight reading and stage performance yesterday. We are very proud of these students, coaches and directors who continue to bring great honors to our school system.
